Tracy Stayton and Thirtyfourtunate

One year, 34 acts of service, 34 nonprofits around the world. Tracy Stayton turned her 34th birthday into a journey of service, and she has been part of the Ayuda and Rotary family ever since.

The story

A year of being 4tunate

In 2014 Tracy Stayton, an Orange County leadership coach, made a bold decision. For her 34th year she would perform 34 acts of service with 34 nonprofits around the world. She left her job, rented out her home to pay for the trip, and set out at Thanksgiving 2014. Over 333 days she served in 25 countries.

She called it Thirtyfourtunate, “a reminder to focus on the have’s instead of the have-not’s.” The journey grew into the 4tunate Movement, which asks everyone to do at least four acts of service a year and carries a simple motto: “No one has nothing.”

That is service above self, the heart of Rotary, and it is the same spirit that built Ayuda.
